Founded in 2007, the Bermondsey Group is a discussion forum for senior housing professionals. It is currently chaired by Paul Bridge, Director of Operations and Business Transformation at East Kent Housing. The group meets eight times per year to hear from speakers on housing and the wider public sector.
The group currently has over 30 members, representing construction, local authority housing, banking, legal, academia, finance, refurbishment, policy, consultancy and maintenance.
Since the group’s inception, we have heard from a wide variety of speakers including:
Steve Amos, Head of Social Housing Finance, Barclays Bank
Patrick Butler, Editor of Society, Health and Education policy for the Guardian
Baron Maurice Glassman, Labour Life Peer
Kate Henderson, Chief Executive of the Town and County Planning Association
Keith Jenkins, Partner, Winkworth Sherwood
Matt Leach, Chief Executive, HACT
David Lunts, Executive Director of Housing and Land at the Greater London Authority
Shiv Malik, Journalist and Author of 'Jilted Generation'
Alex Morton, Senior Policy Fellow, Policy Exchange
Geeta Nanda, Chief Executive, Thames Valley Housing Association
Jane Nelson, Executive Director, Mears Group
Richard Parker, Partner, PriceWaterHouseCoopers
Last year, to celebrate several years of successful meetings and to showcase the value of open, independent exchange of ideas in the housing sector, the group published a series of essays.
The essays were published online via the Guardian Housing Network and also in the form of a printed booklet. The booklet is available for download in the Expertise section of the website.
